ByLaws Updated

The ByLaws have been updated as a result of the Mail Ballot counted this June at the Spring Regional Meeting. A complete copy with the changes highlighted in yellow is now available by clicking the link labeled "IOBG BYLaws as of June, 2009" located farther down the Home Page.

The ByLaws Committee is continuing its work on the ByLaws in terms of clarity and operational effectiveness. Further changes, if any, are scheduled for discussion at the August meeting in Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan.

MAIL BALLOT RESULTS

Shortly after the February 2009 Regional meeting in San Diego, the Executive Committee decided that certain issues that were left unresolved at the 2008 Annual meeting in Seattle should not wait for the next Annual meeting in October 2009.  Our bylaws permit the use of a mail ballot and dictate the number of votes allotted to each District would be determined on a date just prior to the mailing of the ballot. April 15, 2009 was the date set to determine the number of votes.

33 out of 35 mail ballots were received and tallied with the following results. Thank you to those Districts who responsed with their ballots.

Proposition 1 - Code of Conduct - PASSED (83%)

Proposition 2 - Alternate District Directors - PASSED (93%)

Proposition 3 - Duties of the Area Vice Presidents - PASSED (100%)

Proposition 4 - District Vote Allocation
Option A - Maintain the current formula - FAILED (13%)
Option B - One vote for each additional 50 members - FAILED (0.4%)
Option C - Paid members in increments of 50 or any part thereof - FAILED (0.7%)
Option D - Paid members in increments of 25 or any part thereof - PASSED (76%)

For your reference...the link below contains all 13 pages of the documents sent to the Board of Directors (except the ballot itself). It contains the four proposals and their explanation, one of which deals with the formula for determining the votes for Districts.
